    SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE


    For the millions of tourists who come, this building has appeal because of its unique shell-like structure. The design is derived from a competition or an international architectural competition. Competition participated by 233 participants from 23 countries in the world was won by Jørn Utzon of Denmark in 1955. Two years later Utzon came to Sydney to help oversee the construction.

The building is managed by the Opera House Trust and became the headquarters for Opera Australia's Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.
